Front Access Only MCC

Front access only MCC’s are used when the substation has a space constraint in width. The functional units of the MCC are located at the front. The field terminations are located in the wireway chamber or directly onto the functional units within each bucket. Cable entry into the MCC can either be top or bottom entry through gland plates. A front access only MCC should allow complete maintenance from the front.

Back to Back MCC

Back to Back MCC’s are used when the substation has a space constraint in length. Field termination are through the means of a wireway chamber. Cable entry into the MCC can either be top or bottom entry through gland plates.

Front and Rear Access MCC

Front and Rear Access MCC
Front and rear access has been designed so the user can access the MCC from both the front and rear of the MCC. The functional components are all located at the front of the MCC with the field terminations located at the rear. Cable entry into the MCC can either be top or bottom entry through gland plates. This configuration is utilised when the panel is accessible from both the front and rear and does not require wireway chambers. Minimum clearances to walls and other equipment are as per the clients specification as well as SANS 10142 and SANS 1973-1. These clearances need to be adhered to around the MCC.

Outdoor MCC

Outdoor MCC’s can incorporate differencet configurations, i.e. front and rear access, front access only and back to back MCC’s. An outdoor MCC is comprised of either one of the above mentioned MCC’s along with a sheet steel exoskeleton. Cable entry into the MCC can only be from the bottom through gland plates. The exoskeleton is comprised of an angled roof and bolt on external covers and doors. These items ensure that the MCC is not affected by the elements.
