Lighting and small power DB’s are manufactured in accordance with SANS 1973-3 and SANS 1973-1. They are used for the power distribution of plants, offices, exterior lighting, the supply of switch socket outlets, air conditioners and various other ancilliary equipment or components. There are various ways of manufacturing these DB’s and it is generally to the discretion of the client’s requirements on how the Distribution Board will be manufactured.
Construction DB’s are used for new site establishments or when a DB is not required as a fixture, but as a temporary supply. They are constructed for outdoor use and are built to withstand the elements. Most construction DB’s are fitted with welding socket outlets and switch socket outlets to supply personnel with temporary power whilst construction is still taking place. They are easily movable from location to location.
These large scale Low Voltage DB’s are also known as MCC Feeder Distribution Boards. MCC Type Distribution boards either distribute power to local Motor Control Centres or can also incorporate numerous Small Power and Lighting DB’s within one large Distribution Panel.
